This space was born from something I felt early in my career: I didn’t see anyone who looked like me. Not in the labs. Not in the meetings. Not on the job sites. I had to learn to trust my voice in rooms that were never built with me in mind.

I’ve worn the hard hats, the safety glasses, and the heels. I’ve done the work, figured it out on the fly, and shown up over and over, even when I felt unseen. Science in Stilettos came from that experience. It’s not just a name. It’s a reflection of what it means to lead with both strength and softness, intelligence and style.

This blog is part of that. I’m not here to perform. I’m here to speak to the women and girls navigating STEM with vision, with grit, and sometimes with questions. The ones who need to hear that it’s okay to take up space as they are. That your mind is your power and your presence is more than enough.

You’ll find pieces of me in these posts. My journey, my perspective, my mistakes, my wins. I’ll talk about the work, but also the mindset it takes to stay in it. There’s space here for reflection, encouragement, maybe even a little fun. Because the work is serious, but we don’t have to be serious all the time.

I’m glad you’re here. Pull up a chair. You belong.

Ruthie
